Ben and I are so excited to be knee deep in planning our November 2012 wedding! We both feel so blessed and are joyfully planning for our future together.
While planning for this wedding has proven to be a lot of fun, we're stuck with the unfortunate reality that we can't afford to invite everyone that is near and dear to us to the wedding. It's a harsh reality! Ben and I both have very large families that mean the world to us, so it was a really hard decision when we decided to keep our future in mind while deciding on a budget for this wedding.
Ben and I will be inviting our immediate family members and our closest friends to the ceremony and reception. Since we do want to celebrate with everyone who is important to us, we are planning to host an open house at our home in the spring. Hopefully that time of year we'll have nice weather for ALL our family and friends who live further away to travel to the Indy area, and we'll be settled in to our home by then and can show off our space!
We would also like to mention gift requests. As we both have fully furnished homes, we will not need items found on a traditional registry. We will be asking for contributions towards a dream honeymoon. We hope you will be excited to know that you are providing for a trip of life-long memories! We are so thankful and blessed to have so many amazing people in our lives. Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and prayers as we become husband and wife!
I am so happy for you! We did the same thing with our wedding - immediate family and closest friends for an intimate ceremony and reception, then an open house bonfire party for all where we showed pictures and mingled and had a blast. It was lovely! I will keep you all in prayer.
ReplyDeleteGood idea. We are doing the same thing (in 12 days!).
ReplyDeleteImmediate family only.
